From Pastor’s Desk
What time is it?
It’s time to think about time. That’s because it’s time to begin a new season, a new semester, and a new time. As nature ends the season of warmth, the cool and refreshing, new season of fall kicks in. Well, the lazy, hazy, and rainy days of summer are over and we’re all back! The children are “Back to School” starting a new semester. The stores have had their “Back to School” promotions. The children are off to school. The rest of us are back at work.
That makes it a good time for the church people to check out in just what “time zone” we are living. There is a temptation for some to live in the past and for others to live in the future. The past is gone and the future hasn’t happened. So, we really can’t live in either of those “time zone.” Yes, we have memory, so we can recall the past.
Yes, we have imagination and hope, so we can project, indeed count on, a future. At present, nonetheless, we are located in neither.
So, in reality if we are to truly live, it has to be in the “present.” That’s what we have-“now.”
“Right now” is the time to accept Jesus Christ for who he is-Our Lord and Savior.
“Right now” is the time to be filled with the Spirit and experience a full life of grace.
“Right now” is the time to love God with all our soul, mind, and strength and to love our neighbor as we love ourselves.
“Right now” is to live vigorously and happily the holy connection that is the church family.
“Right now,” is the time to roll up our sleeves and be in ministry to the neighborhood and to the world.
“Right now” is the time to love our spouse, to hug our kids, to do a good job at work, to be at worship on Sunday, to pray frequently, to witness to Christ by who we are and how we are, and so much more that is indeed exciting!
As Scripture says: “See, now is the acceptable time; see, now is the day of salvation” (II Cor. 6:2). It’s time to live that “now.”
God bless you all!
Your brother in Christ,
Pastor Andrew
